Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson had a very good week, with his Tucker Carlson Tonight drawing an average total audience of 3 million viewers—making it the most-watched cable news show for the week of March 15 through March 21, according to ratings data compiled by Nielsen.
Carlson also took first place in the key demo of adults 25-54, the demographic group most valued by advertisers, finishing the week with an average audience of 495,000 viewers. FNC’s Hannity beat MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show to take second-most-watched show of the week in the key demo, with a total audience of 411,000 viewers.
Overall, Fox News was the highest-rated network in cable news among total viewers in both total day and prime time. In prime, Fox drew a total audience of 2.3 million viewers, and 351,000 viewers in the key demo.
Fox’s rise came at CNN and MSNBC’s expense, with CNN posting its lowest-rated week of the year in prime time, with shows like Cuomo Prime Time experiencing steep declines—down 65 percent from the week of January 18.
Fox News, with an average prime time audience of 2.289 million viewers, took first-place among all cable networks for the week, followed by TBS (1.905 million viewers), MSNBC (1.710 million viewers), TNT (1.350 million viewers) and HGTV (1.179 million viewers).
In the key demo, Fox News was first in prime with an average audience of 351,000 viewers, followed by CNN (269,000 viewers) and MSNBC (225,000 viewers).
