March 30th was a sunny Saturday, Thousands of fans arrived for what would turn out to be a day of fun and basketball in downtown Bridgeport. And Bridgeport was ready. The city, the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, and the Downtown Special Services District (a BAM client) had worked hard to make sure that fans felt welcomed in the Park City. These three groups collaborated to present a free Pre-Game Party on Main Street adjacent to the Webster Bank Arena. The festivities were well publicized in radio ads, in newspapers and social media. The party featured live music, food and beer vendors, and games and activities. Bob Abbate Marketing assisted the DSSD in the creation of colorful “Welcome Fans” pole banners. These banners lined Main Street from the Holiday Inn to the Webster Bank Arena. We also produced a guide to downtown restaurants, bars and entertainment venues, as well as a downtown services flyer. These materials were supplied to area hotels for distribution to out of town fans. They were also handed out to fans as they approached the Arena for the games.
